Progress not Perfection
At Wind Song Acres we know we aren't perfect, but we are taking steps to limit our waste, and create ethically sustainable products.
We have talked about our products and how we are making them more sustainable, ethical and local. Here are some of the things we do in the shop and in our home. Shipping is always a problem, creating pollution and waste. Here are a few things we do to make it a little greener:
Offer in-store pick up
Use plain brown cardboard boxes that are easily broken down
When we get deliveries, we keep the bubble wrap and packing peanuts to use when we ship orders
We do our best to fill orders in a single box We fulfill multiple orders at once to reduce trips to the post office
We reuse or recycle the boxes that our supplies come in Other things we try to do at the shop and in our home: Recycling
Composting
Gardening without pesticides Keeping Bees Planting plants for all pollinators
Hybrid Vehicles
Solar Panels We stamp our paper retail bags
All of these things are great! But it isn't perfect, we still produce waste, but we are trying to do better.
Going "green" can be an overwhelming journey. It is almost impossible to be 100% clean, sustainable, and ethical. The goal should be to continuously improve. What we would like to do in the future: Solar panels on the building
Anticipate all of our supply needs and reduce our needed deliveries throughout the year Find compostable packaging for our products
Find a way to offset the carbon footprint of our deliveries This list is ever growing and changing. If you have any ideas on how we can do better, please let us know! If we have inspired, you to think about ways you can improve let us know!
